Project overview
A 120,000 sq ft subterranean and surface-level cultural repository designed to house priceless historical artifacts. The structure demands absolute atmospheric stability, strict temperature parameters, and uncompromising seismic immunity.
Challenge
Engineering a 60-meter column-free exhibition span in a high-risk seismic zone, whilst ensuring zero UV-light degradation to the interior archives. The aesthetic requirement dictated that all structural supports remain completely invisible.
Solution
Implementation of a base-isolated foundation system paired with a post-tensioned concrete diagrid roof. Solar exposure is rigorously managed via algorithmically controlled kinetic titanium louvers that adjust to the sun's trajectory in real-time.
Result
A monolithic cultural landmark operating at LEED Platinum efficiency. The archive delivers uncompromised structural resilience and precise environmental control, securing the artifacts for generations without sacrificing architectural elegance.
